Reading Luo Zhongli's Landscape Painting

In people's mind, Lou Zhongli was a artist of figure painting, and the object of painting was the farmer of Daba mountainous areas. However, as for the quantity of painting, the landscape painting topped the list.  

Luo Zhongli's landscape can be divided into three stages: the affiliated high school, going abroad and being a dean. It’s not because Mr.Luo haven’t painted the landscape, but the period of his painting landscape was concentrated, and had their own characteristics. It was convenient for the author to discuss and the reader to enjoy. 

Luo Zhongli once talked about landscape sketch : "from the start of our generation, the level of painting did not increase. Sometimes I even felt that I drew well at that time." For a mature artist, it was not important to paint well. Only from the professional point of view, composition, morphology, brushwork, light and shadow, etc., to draw out the spirit of the object,and even to draw the individual style, which was a long-term training, but it's not a difficult thing. The key lied in whether you can draw a specific, present, unique feeling. This feeling was not only the style, it needed to be sensitive and a new vision, and needed a clear and ease mind and flexible hand. In this sense, I didn't like those paintings well, and stylized and styling landscape painter, that was to make landscape not on the drawing. It is in this sense that I put Mr. Luo’s landscape painting into different periods.
